Is the State a Religion?

Once again, the fact I post something should not imply I agree with a speaker. But I think that in the words of Jesus, "one can not serve two masters" applies here. This was one of my father's favorite sayings. He was about as nonreligious as one could get, but he understood this. 

Can we serve the State and God at the same time? 

The early Church advocated obedience to the government, but not service to it. There is a difference. 

Does your church fly the US Flag? If it does, is the "Christian" Flag lower or higher than the US flag? Or even worse is the flag put on the podium to recieve the proper reverence. 

I bet most people have not even thought about these issues. 

I suggest you think about them.

The End of America

The title page of this presentation, the end of America, is rather silly. Even though I expect a very tough crisis relatively soon, American will go on, just as Great Britian, Spain and other nations did when thier empire fell. I expect that that minor caveat in mind, I think you will find this video of interest, if you have interest in such things.

Ozymandias

There is an important lesson in this poem, for us individually, as members of a nation and members of a church. 

                                   Ozymandias

I met a traveler from an antique land

Who said: `Two vast and trunkless legs of stone

Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,

Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,

And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,

Tell that its sculptor well those passions read

Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,

The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed.

And on the pedestal these words appear –
