Are You Addicted?

The way the masses were kept quiet in Roman times was the proverbial bread and circuses. While TV is a part of this is our era, there may be a more modern "contender" for that spot in Babylon the Great's arsenal.

Just finished Game of Thrones Season 3. Had to fast forward through some of the more gratuitously awful parts. I wonder if that stuff plays to the kind of audience that used to attend gladitorial games in Rome. (Though the one-handed "kingslayer" rescuing the amazon warrior-woman from the bear pit was quite fabulous and heroic.)
